Winter
Chances for meeting
Hello everyone, this is Gabriele Lopez and here’s one of my few newsletters that I use as a tool be in direct touch someway more with a few people. I hope you are interested in these emails, but if you’re here as a mistake you can easily unsubscribe at the bottom of this email…
Diy nights
There are two DIY Nights coming in winter. The first will be hosted at Spazio Raw in Milano, it’s a place I love hosted by a dear friend where I have many memories of good times. The Night is being organised by Associazione DIY for their “Self week Fest”.
Saturday there will be an exhibition opening and ‘zine nights while Sunday a few people will introduce recent publications they realised recently. I will introduce my Tokyo Diaries publication on Sunday.
This little book is the result of my ongoing search for a new and personal meaning in photography, and it’s a small-batch book often presented with darkroom prints.
More than everything else it’s a way to keep the fire going by exchanges with other people.
Anyway this is about the first DIY NIGHT
The second DIY Night will be hosted in a beautiful place in Vaprio D’Adda, just over the Adda river, we thought it’s the right moment to do something new in a different place outside big cities and explore new possibilities.
Nights are totally open to the public and if you want to share some of your project on those tables you are welcome, please get in touch with Associazione DIY for the first night or just reply here for the second one in January.
As for anything else winter is here, I have slowed down a little bit and used time to get more and more swimming pool sessions and take care of many family things, fixing home (still ongoing) and taking care of the archive.
Soon I will be back in the darkroom creating darkroom prints from the Tokyo Years for those who asked a copy of the book and then I hope to have some free time for wandering around a little bit, taking photos or not.
The colors in nature are stunning these days, the park where my swimming pool is looks stunning, and I plan to do something there as soon as possible.
If I could snap my fingers and decide where to spend the next months I would Instantly transfer myself in the mountains, getting lost and feeding birds.
There is a new ongoing serie I’ve been slowly realising lately, I was tempted to print something new for those nights but I decided that the Tokyo Diaries were more than enough and what I am living and (consequentially) shooting just needs more time of me so I can just wait and keep going. No one in the world really needs my pictures, so I am totally happy with a few real chances of meeting when they happen.
Hope to see you in one of those evenings, or around.
Take care, Gabriele
